The goal of the workshop is to establish the HIV implementation research questions of highest priority to Malawi based on the Malawi National Strategic Plan for HIV and AIDS. The Identified research priorities will serve as the basis for future research projects of junior scientists and their research training.

The Kamuzu University of Health Sciences held its first ever research dissemination conference in 2022 ever since the delinking of the College of Medicine from the University of Malawi. The MHIRST project saw with it so many wins as a number of its fellows and trainees presented and disseminated their research work at the event.
