Ms. Reed oversees the Fellowship and Training Programs Office at the UNC Institute of Global Health and Infectious Diseases. The office coordinates 12 training programs, managing an average of 85 active trainees per academic year and follows 375+ trainees for evaluation and program renewal purposes. Nine of the 12 active training programs are NIH-funded T32s and D43s, and two are physician subspecialty fellowship programs.

The office facilitates research training in 16 countries outside of the US, across three continents, including at UNC satellite projects in Malawi, Zambia, China, and Vietnam. Ms. Reed directs administrative operations for these training programs, and has streamlined efforts to ensure students and postdoctoral fellows are managed in a uniform and consistent manner. The office is responsible for developing and monitoring program budgets, and affiliated subcontracts, totaling more than $3.6M in direct costs annually. Additionally, the office oversees trainee recruitment and selection; ensures compliance with all local and federal award guidelines, serves as the point of contact for trainees, academic faculty and funding agencies; and leads reporting and program evaluation efforts.
